It is a common complaint that we face every year about not informing everyone about the preparations for the Carnival. I feel a blog would be the best way to deal with this and keep eveyone informed and happy. I shall keep updating this blog, so valuable comments and suggestions are most welcome.
The first group meeting for the Darjeeling Carnival 2006 was held yesterday evening (08 Sept) at the Buzz with around 25 interested people attending at a short notice. Although we could not inform or get intouch with all our friends we hope they will hear about this and try and attend the next meeting. The group consisted mostly of old members, but it was heartening to see some new and enthusiastic faces also. A lot was discussed and achieved in this first meeting. I will be updating the blog with the minutes of the meeting so everyone gets to know where we stand.
Volunteers are most welcome as we always run short of people. There's no fame, no glamour, just hardwork, a lot excitement and ofcourse that great feeling of having achieved something good at the end of the 10 days in November. You wont regret it!

WHAT??? Darjeeling Carnival in December???? are U guys serious??? I hope its not a decision taken out of desperation to shut Cosmics mouth up..... December...Annual Exams.... Cold....Fog... hope U guys will give it a rational thought..... Anyway if U really plan to go ahead with it.... ALL THE VERY BEST from my side.
As far as I know the carnival will be held after the annual exams. And what with the global warming, its hard to be the coolest one even in December!!
Weather should be no problem.
The parents always cribbed (the favourite vocation of Darjeeling people is to crib) about Carnival in November. They felt their keenly studious kids were getting distracted just before the exams. Have you heard of the Goa Carnival held in mid-February coming in the way of ICSE candidates there!
Darjeeling is always looking for scapegoats to do nothing, sit pretty on its hands and opine about rest of the world. This is the lot of the mad.

Hope U realise U cannot compare Darjeeling Carnival... with carnival in Goa... coz for Goa Feb is high tourist season and the Carnival is focussed towards the tousists ... but in case of Darjeeling Carnival... Sameer gave me the impression that its more focused towards our people... towards bringing peace and harmony in Darjeeling etc etc etc... so all I am trying to say is if its for Darjeeling Ko Manchey.... let everone be a part of it....including of course the students.... and as far as global warming goes.... I am waht has prevented the temperature from rising abnormally.... I melt to save U all.... still me... The Coolest One
